Toronto 2025
The theme of our 2025 conference, “Repositioning the Accounting Profession for Data Governance,” cannot be timelier particularly coming after the 2024 theme “Strategic Upscaling of the Accounting Profession within the Dynamics of Technology”.
In this era of technological advancement, the Accountancy practice swims in an ocean of all manner of Data, which must be organised and managed for the purpose making daily optimal decisions. It is easy to mis-manage or abuse Data and fall into the trap of continual suboptimal judgement. Therefore, the professional Accountant as an expert/ consultant to most economic venture must master the art/ science of Data Governance.
We are constantly navigating this era where cutting-edge tools such as cloud computing, artificial intelligence, machine learning, cybersecurity risk, Data privacy and integrity have taken centre-stage in Accountancy practice. Every where we turn and every communication that delivers innovation and strategic pathways, must first be converted to data-points if not originally presented in the form of data, hence their governance cannot be taken for granted.
Repositioning the Accountancy Profession with reference to Data Governance calls for significant change in mindset, and how technological advancements are leveraged to achieve growth and excellence.
During this unique conference (Toronto-2025) also branded the 10th Anniversary conference, we will listen to seasoned experts speak on technical topics such as: Imperatives of data governance on e-government (in the context of public sector); Securing Data Integrity: Emerging roles for the accountants; Bridging Borders: Building stronger global financial networks in the digital age while a workshop will showcase two (2) Panels that will discuss non-technical topics: (i) Unlocking Investment Opportunities- Navigating financial, regulatory, and strategic pathways; (ii) Tariffs and Their Ripple Effects- Unpacking the global impact on business, consumers, and economic stability.
Get ready to become aware of some resounding milestones achieved by ICAN Canada District Society (ICDS) that will be put on display for attendees – ICDS was 10 years old on February 7, 2025; ICAN and CPA signed a reciprocity MoU effective February 1, 2025 (after an 8-year pursuit); effective June 1, 2025, ICDS resolved that all financial members must first be registered centrally with the district. Only such members will now be referred for listing at the chapter closest to their residence.
We dare to ask that you look forward to the sightseeing at Niagara Falls, the Nigerian and Asian dinners with appropriate 10th Anniversary celebratory music and cutting of special conference cakes at opening ceremony and closing (gala night).
