ICAN Nigeria and CPA Canada Sign Historic MoU on Reciprocal Recognition.
Winnipeg, February 1, 2025 – The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) have signed a landmark Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) establishing a framework for reciprocal recognition of their professional accounting designations. The agreement, which takes effect on February 1, 2025, enhances global mobility and career opportunities for accounting professionals in both Nigeria and Canada.
Under this MoU, eligible members of ICAN and CPA Canada will have a streamlined pathway to obtain the other body’s designation, subject to meeting the prescribed criteria. This initiative aims to strengthen international collaboration, uphold global accounting standards, and provide members with broader professional opportunities.
The MoU is expected to facilitate knowledge exchange, increase professional mobility, and further integrate the Nigerian and Canadian accounting professions on the global stage.
